Garden continues 2 months!

At this point the garden is growing. I'm doing the exact same thing for each of them. Some of the plants are really happy. Thriving even.

Others not so much. I don't know what is going on. I'm really worried about them. They look sickly. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

The fact that I only know what half of them are is just humorous.

I can know sage and cilantro when I see it, same as lettuce. I really think I've tomato growing and maybe mint or mustard or scallions.

I don't know and honestly whatever it is, I'm trying to keep it alive and happy. So when I went to enjoy the sun I took them out too. Yes I took the plants outside to enjoy the sun.

Why aren't they always out there? Well cause its SF and damn cold usually. The fog rolls in and weather unpredictable, their baby plants.

Obviously I brought them in before going to work.

Hair unwanted, what to do.

Swimsuit season is coming up and everyone is starting to get ready. From diets and working out to gearing up to deal with the hair issue. Yes most of us feel it's an issue and have many ways to deal with it.

The most common is shaving, which is fine for the legs or underarms but can be a bit of an issue for more sensitive areas. No one likes the instant grow back, or razor rash nor risking a cut. Waxing is a pretty good option, the problem is that is rather painful and something that has to be done consistently. It cost's $50-$80 and that's not including tip. Plus you still have to deal with the worry of in grown hairs and YUCK!

Then their is laser hair removal, and yes its more expensive and more like a "procedure". Which makes it scary, right? WRONG! Get that idea out of your head.

It is more permanent because it kills the hair growth. Now granted it will not get all of them because they are not all growing at the same stages. Above shows you kinda what your hair and skin go through. Below is the actual machine that they use.Not so scary huh? There are two types of laser I have found out. One you put a numbing cream on before and is the traditional with a light the other doesn't have the cream is a suction and heated feeling. Neither hurt really, not comfortable but not painful... well not compared to a wax anyways.

They take the machine and go spot but spot over the area that you want to remove hair. The laser removal with the light can be a bit uncomfortable and sometimes feels like a quick sharp prick. The suction is weird feeling but same thing a quick little pain if there is any.Does it work? YES! I had one treatment and was very please with the results. Now granted it takes between 4-6 maybe up to 8 treatments to have complete hair removal. The above picture is after three treatments.

Now before you say, I can't afford it! I know that is what I thought. Thanks to Yipit.com which aggregates all the Groupon's to LivingSocial and more coupons. If you keep an eye out on the site they always have laser hair removal packages on there.

Heck there is one current one that has three sessions in it for $150 that is valued at $600! If you keep your eye out on them you can get it done easily. Now doesn't spending $150 on something that over time will be permenet seem smarter than spending $50-$80 continuously? Obviously the younger you do it the better investment it is. Yet, do the math and spend a bit more at the start and save a lot more by the finish. I am just saying...

It seems like a no brainer. Spend a bit more, get better long term results and spend less in the long run, plus its less pain.

Bra Tricks 5: The Nude Bra

Do you know what to wear under a white shirt? Most people don't, I know of a few people aka celebrities below who make the an easy mistake. They think that the white is think enough or that the color of the bra is light enough. Let me tell you, it's not! I am sorry but yes I can tell that's a pink bra. I shouldn't be able to, it doesn't look good. Shouldn't your stylist catch that? Granted sometimes its part of the fashion statement. If this is the case, be careful on how you do it.

I mean, it really looks tacky, unless maybe at the beach. It shows though and yes black showing through white is kinda punk-ish but not like this. Now I know what your are thinking. It is a white shirt, so then you need a white bra, right?
WRONG! It is often one of the worst, because its the most common mistake and really shows through. I mean talk about an easy to tell difference. In the end the nude bra prevails, it is after all supposed to be akin to skin.

Tahoe one day

The sun is not even up but I am and its ungodly. Mr. A is used to it so does not think its as evil. All I do is glare at the world and repeat Tahoe in my head to answer why I am up.
Less than half an hour goes by and I am at the A's house in the mission. We are waiting for the ride to show up and half an hour after they did. Who cares about being a tad late when you show up in a cushy Escalade. Sweet! The thing had a carry pack for our boards.
Once in the car, everyone is comfy. There is way leg room and I'm thanking myself for bring the blanket as its chilly. Moments later we hear a whistle. Its the snowboard pact! If we hit 80 it starts to make sounds. The damn thing tells you when your speeding.
Suddenly it was 4 hours later and we were at Northstar. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Within the hour we were at the top of the mountain and it was perfect. I mean the best conditions ever! The snow was crunchy and soft, plus the weather warm.
Ms.A and I did some warm up runs and stopped to get me a snack. I was starving. We went for something real but she was too in her head. So after a while we went to get lunch and I had her share a Snuggler. The peppermint schnapps hot coco did the trick.
Then she was carving it up or so I heard. Sadly I got separated from the group cause I lost something on the lift. I went to look for it and and thus boarded on my own for a while. It was still a blast. I managed to talk to Mr. A while boarding! It was rather fun to be on the phone and board!
Then after I took my last run and waited for the group, I hit the Chocolate Bar. Got myself a glass of wine, had a few kids (must have been 22ish) try and pick up on me. I laughed it off picked up some boarding tips and went straight to the fireplace, to drink my wine and call my bf Mr.A the guy I wanted to talk to. Enjoyed the wine and had a good convo while I waited for the crew.
The drive back was just as quick and easy. My sweetheart decided to be one and brought me a real dinner. Not to mention help me get home with my gear easily. After it was food and crash time. A great trip!

Garden Continued Week 5

The garden keeps going, yippe! I am quite amazed that I have not over watered them or anything. This is getting to be kinda cool! Now if only I hadn't screwed up the labels. I don't really know what is what!

OK, so I know some of them like sage and I know I got the basil on the side. I have some idea's what others are... and then again some that I have no clue on! Its weird, since the more they grow the more I care for them.

Do you know what that is? I am not entirely sure, I think it might be cilantro/Italian parsley.

Yet I have no idea what this one is. I really am kinda baffled and yet quite happy it is growing.

I am hoping that this is a tomato plant that is sticking, cause if it is. Oh I am a happy girl! Yet I haven't the foggiest for real. Just hoping, in general I think this is a fun little project that might provide great food.

Past Tahoe Trip

As I'm on the route up again I realize I didn't tell you about last time. So here it is quickly.
The drive up while companionship was a blast, the drive was awful! The rain and bad traffic then the chains and all that hassle. We left at 7am and got up to Tahoe at 3pm. We couldn't go boarding on Saturday.

Instead we played in the snow, had a mini fight and made and angel or two. Also practiced balance on the board then went to the room. The A's brought back food and that was it, with my bottle of wine we killed the night off early to go boarding the next day.

Unbeknown to us it snowed all the night! Tahoe was covered. We go up to Northstar in a flash and its just kept snowing harder. We go up the mountain and I'm trying to teach Mr.A a bit but its nigh impossible. We keep trying and the powder is burying us up to our knees. I lost him for a bit, lapped him I guess then went back up.

I was not lucky the second time around and then got stuck in the snow. I mean STUCK! There is powder to my knees and its all around me. I can't see my board or anything. I try to move.. HA! I finally end up doing somersaults to get out. You know what I mean, jumping forward and trying to flip my board out of the snow and move a little bit. This worked the best.

Found Mr. A, we went down and he is doing well. The snow is ridiculous and just dumping. I mean I like powder but not this much. In the end we were worried about getting home so we left early. We were right to worry.

The 80 is closed! OMG! Freak out right? The other car with all the A's waited for a while then heard that 50 was open and tried to go for it. Me and Mr. A decided to wait it out and get real food. We hung out at this great place called Zano's and killed two hours. The word got out that the 80 was open and we were running for the car. From then on once we got out of the chains it was pretty breezy.

This trip kinda sucked on the boarding side and even stressing side, but the company; the crew of A's... FANTASTIC!

Cooking Tip: Hummus

I Love to cook, most of my friends in San Francisco don't really know this. See this is because I have a small kitchenette. Its not really designed for cooking and since I live alone, right off a great strip of restaurants... I rarely cook. I know I am bad!

My friends who know me from my U.O. college days are probably thinking WTF. How can this be? Since they were always at my place eating something or another. I was always well stocked with food. Well then, I had a whole kitchen and pantry! Not to mention an island and space to prep and move around. Plus living in apartment complex made it easy to have friends all around. So yea I had like food for four.

OK. So even when I don't really cook there are some things I still love to do. One is Hummus!

What you need:

Two cans of garbanzo beans

Then you need a table spoon cause its your measuring guide. Per can you need a tablespoon of:

  • Tahini
  • Oil - I tend to like to use a spicy one to give it heat.
  • Lemon

Then its all about the food processor, you could maybe substitute a blender. Or maybe even a small hand processor but be careful about this one. I have to say I love my Cuisinart.

Then add a pinch of cumin (a pinch its strong!) and blend it. Depending on how chunky you want it, add some water or a bit more lemon juice.

Then it is ready to serve, I always like to put a bit of paprika on the top to give it a touch of color.

Note this is the basic recipe. From here you can really spice it up. You can add almost anything, try:
  • Garlic
  • Red peppers
  • Sun dried tomatoes.
  • Black Beans
  • Curry
Enjoy!

Garden Week 4/5

Ok so I've been bad and busy. I didn't write cause not that much happened since last time. So its been a month and they are still growing!! Can you believe this? I am astounded, this is so cool!

You have no idea how excited I am that I haven't killed them. Now its on to putting them in the stack-able planters. Which I arranged and laid out, had to remember how to stack them. I bought soil on my break today at my local gardening store, Sloat. $6.50 with tax not bad.

Its been sunny and nice; which inspired the hard to do work. Ok not hard just a bit time consuming and messy. I organized the pots by how strong I thought the seedlings were doing. Started to fill up the pots with soil.Just like that I had planted them. After watering them gotta say I feel quiet proud. I let the water drain and brought them inside. I mean let's face is today is warm but most SF days are not. I don't want them to die.So I got them all stacked nicely, shut the door to see a timber start to happen. Like the ninja I am my arm and leg shot out to catch the tumbling tower and saves it. Whew am so I lucky, disaster was adverted. Let me tell you I had a flash of soil all over my studio and it was so not what I needed.
