Frozen Grand Central's SF Homage

If you remember I decided to pay homage to Frozen Grand Central Station, here in my own lovely city of San Francisco. I mean if we have a pillow fight that last for hours then we are crazy enough to freeze for five minuets. So I decided to organize one its the Frozen SF: Powell Station. If you do not know what I am talking about in regards to my homage watch this YouTube video:

Somehow I have not wrote in here about this event.. maybe because it was in March I don't know, but I should have. So let me give you the quick low down. We will freeze for 5 minutes & then disperse.

WHAT: Frozen SF: Powell Station

WHEN: Thursday March 4th, 2010 at 5:30PM

WHERE: Powell & Market, Powell Cable turn-around, Powell Plaza, & of course Powell BART Station

SYNC: Via cell phone alarms & http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/pacific-time/

So for more in depth info and as you can tell... Frozen SF: Powell Station is THIS THURSDAY at 5:30PM. It started with just a posting asking if anyone else loved the above YouTube video. Which got a huge response, so I said lets set a time and I did! Just like that I created a Facebook event for it and invited all my friends About 200 people. (http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=232249449636&ref=ts). I also posted the information on Urban Prankster, a ning site for Improve Everwhere for people to find it. (http://improveverywhere.ning.com/group/sanfrancisco/forum/topics/freeze-8). After that I left it alone and kinda forgot about the event.

People asked me why Powell/Market - Powell Station... and the reasons for this is that we have many spots in which to be. We can be on the streets/sidewalks of Market and Powell, Powell Station Cable turn-around, Powell Plaza, & of course Powell BART Station. Plus there are many areas in which the event can be filmed/documented. This is from the San Francisco Center to with in BART Station there are many areas that will already be filming and where tourist and locals will run it to it.

Now I was going to be happy if we had 200 people interested in it, but well the reaction has been huge. We have ton’s of people interested in the event, actually over 1,000 people on Facebook who have RSVPed Yes and over 1,000 Maybe's. OMG! There are about 50 comments and if they all show up with someone, and if 10% of the RSVP's showed up then I am going to so excited.

I decided that I will mostly likely will be near the top of the stairs so I can see in many directions. I have heard many people interested are documenting this and if you are one, I would love to have different accounts & versions. Also be smart, protect your valuables & beware of pickpockets as we are FROZEN. How we are going to do this is with our lovely cell phones, please set an alarm for 5:30pm & for 5:35pm. Want to check your time go to: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/pacific-time/.

Now it is all about seeing what really happens and who actually shows up. Either way I am having a blast organizing this and watching it spread to so many people. The fact that something I have created has reached over 1,000 people is incredible. Social media seriously rocks!

Aftermath of ATVing at Pismo

If you read my last post, that was done before leaving... you will know that it was 5 AM when my girl Ms. R showed up, I sooo should have slept in more. Which I did in the car and Yes, my sunglasses helped shade the rising sun. Closer to our destination with Ms. J getting food, we made a quick stop and grabbed our hot drinks then it was off. With food in our tummy's and having met up with the rest of the group we were off. Or more we were sleeping soundly as poor Ms.R stuck at the wheel being an angel. She is just singing to humming along with her easy going music all of which helps lull the two of us non-morning people dead asleep. So when I do finally wake up this is my view and yes the sign says Pismo Beach. Sweet we are here and I slept the whole way!
Well, image Mr. S surprise when the trip took like 2.5 hours and we are there. With too much time on our hands before the ATV adventure is suppose to start. We decided to go ahead and set up camp. OK it is car camping, and the camping is debatable even, but that will unfold later. I couldn't believe how quick and easy it was to set up my tent, I really never do this so how the heck. Well it's not rocket science, basically create the long poles and stick em through.Once camp was set up we went down to the ATV rental and signed the forms and lucky for me I had given them my card ahead of time, cause I was an idiot at 430am and forgot my wallet. Luckily you don't need it to camp.
We stopped and grabbed a picture of the whole group before heading to the beach to meet our driver and grab our bikes.
It is amazing, to see the sun out, the sand dry and know the weather was supposed to be gray and raining all weekend. Sweet the weather was on our side. As we get our instructions on how to ride the ATV, switch gears and all that fun stuff. It was very important that they gave us tips and tricks to the lay of the land. The biggest thing they always said and even a sign said it: We are off! The whole group ready to ride.Who would have known that riding around in the sand would be so much fun.We raced, we followed the leader, we zigged and zagged all around.
Would stop for a sun break, enjoy nature all around us. Take shots of each other and enjoy the kites.
While it is a lot of fun you really do have to be careful, I fell off once and knew I was not gonna make it so I jumped. Regardless if sand is soft and nice, just like snow it hurts when you land. Oh well, life is rough and you get a few bruises along the way. There was a worse fall and one of the group actually got a bit hurt but lets leave that out of the mix a bit... specially since he was a trooper and didn't let it stop the fun or phase him.
I had a great time with my girls and meeting some pretty damn new people. Everyone was just out to have a good time and be adventurous. Thus we are done and ready to go back to the real world, that is well Pismo Beach. This really cute town. With a lovely Pier and a good bit of wind. Brrr. While peeking in windows after eating lunch, we ran into this window of chocolate bugs. I am not kidding they dipped insects and other creatures in chocolate. Why would anyone disgrace such a delicious sweet.. I don't know.
The boys of course saw this and had to try it, thus they ate the scorpions. Eww. Again I say a really cute, well maintained town. It is so quaint and homey.
If you remember my saying that it is windy and cold and well our fire took a bit to get going. So while we waited we piled into the car and just chilled. We did this while our Iron Chef made us food and we of course wanted more and were craving pizza. Pizza really?Yes, we decided to order pizza. Is it really camping if you get pizza delivered? Probably not but who cares! We were Papa John's first campsite delivery. We got to pizza's and kept them a bit warm on the fire. Then let the fire eat the boxes. Is it camping ? So debatable.
After dinner, which we had more good food as we found we had our own Iron Chef in S... Damn is he a good cook! That steak was just perfect and after which we decided it was time for smores. So out came the marshmallows.Soon everyone had a smore or three and everyone is stuff. Conversations, cards and jokes fill the night. The wind howled and we all bundled up, ok well I was always bundle but that's me.
Then as the fire died we all crawled into our tents, fell asleep and got rained on. Well the rain did come but not till after we were safe inside our tents. Naturally we woke up early, realized how wet the earth was and got our behinds out of there and back home. A fun little trip.

ATV @ Pismo Beach - Here I come

I promised I would get back to this yes? Well I have to take a break from dancing cause my poor feet they are just ripped up to sheds. I mean each foot has at least two owwies that let's just say make wanting to dance Tango nigh impossible. It does not stop me from planning my life and trying to live it more. Thus when my friend R decided she wanted to go ATVing and invited me, I was game.

If you don't know an ATV is an "All Terran Vehicle". This means that they are made to pretty much go everywhere and handle whatever crazy thing you through it at. These are massive vehicles that mean business and I must admit I am a bit scared. I don't have to be cause I am with two new friends J and R, who will be right with me scream their heads off.

So in case you haven't realized it is 4:30AM and I am up waiting on my girl R to head down to Pismo Beach to go do this thing. Normally this is the time in which I am going to bed not getting up! This weekend has so far be drizzly and not so nice, why we decided to do this in the winter I will never know, but back out? Ha! That is not who I am. So I am packed, ready and now really wishing I had slept in till my girl called and said she was driving towards me. Yet I packed, handled my stupid stomach, packed a lil extra and well wrote this post. So I hope everyone's weekend is great. I am gone and will report back when I figure out what the hell I am think or with at least how it was. Well I wait until I am picked up and then the REAL fun starts when we pick up J and the THREE of us get to go have fun, bond and ENJOY LIFE!

SF Pillow Fight 2010

So sorry, I have been really bad in multiple ways the biggest one being that I just haven't written in this blog! I said I would do it and I have not been. So I am making it up right now! As you know in my list of things to do is participate in a Flash Mob, well one I do often (don't think of it as one opps) is the Valentine's Day Pillow Fight in SF! Every year it happens at 6pm at Justin Herman Plaza and is crazy. This is a huge, massive, mob of a pillow fight, where thousands of people show up to beat each other with pillows. Please take a second to wrap your mind around this fact a 1,000 PLUS person Pillow Fight. Just in case you cannot visualize this please check out this video:

Can you see how crazy and intense it is? It is a full on mob! Not just a mob a mob made of people ready to beat each other down. Lucky it was just pillows but even so sometimes you would actually connect with people. I know I did and I got a few pretty damn good knocks myself. Regardless of the fact I was glad to meet up with some friends and was able to keep a hold of my date for the most part. The pictures are by Jennifer Emperador.
That's is us all before the fight.. I swear the place is like the calm before a storm. People keep coming together it becomes a massive sea of pillows. The Justin Herman Plaza in front of the Ferry Building becomes crazy, intense and completely packed.
If you think this is a short half an hour thing, well obviously you don't know SF very well. We don't take things lightly or just play around we go all out. To stay in the fight the whole time is insane. I really wonder how many calories you burn fighting your heart out with a pillow. It took a good 20 minuets to fight your way through the crowd and after getting through once, well my date and I decided we needed a lil night cap. So we went to the wine bar hit the last call and had a lovely Malbec. We get out to see in the distance what appears to be snow, naturally we know it is not and as we get closer we see the individual feathers.
Unable to resist we rush back in to the fight, note it has been going on for over an hour now. The night is dark and the pillows flying. Being sucked back in the fight for a good bit is not hard to do as it looks like a lot of fun. Thus it is time to scream "CHARGE" and run back in full force with the courage of wine backing us.

After a good bit of time, loosing track of it really, while the fight is still going on fight fiercely almost two hours later. We are done, toast and just damn hungry. Yet walking down the street little mini fights erupted on the side walks to the quick passing in the crosswalk. Their is nothing one can do but smile and go after some THAI. Of which Osha did an amazing job and really went over the top. From the complimentary 1st glass of champagne , to the dessert and bringing the check with a long stem rose. Damn I love their food normally but that was doing Valentines with style.

Benefit Beaty Bash

Opps! I need to get used to using and writing this blog with everything I do here. I am a bit all over the place and have been becoming active in Meetup. Well I planned an event on 2.2.10 for the Feline Linx (San Francisco Girl's Social) *Group Organizer R Shown below* with one of my favorite guys Jared *Shown below* the manager of the Benefit store in the Marina. If you haven't been to Benefit yet, well your crazy but it's an easy fix. So check out one of the better locations and my favorite one.

2219 Chestnut St
(between Avila St & Pierce St)
San Francisco, CA 94123
(415) 567-1173
www.benefitcosmetics.com

It was Sweet! Benefit pretty much ours for the night and extended their night an hour for us (Thank you!). They also had a bit of food and wine for the group. Which was great as this event was right during dinner time and we needed a bit of tapas or something! Hungry women do not sit still for make overs!
I managed to talk them into a free service.. eye brow wax or lash tint. Which is a great thing to have happen. I love Suzi (Q) who does an amazing job styling your eyebrows. She is a blast to chat with and really has a keen eye.
Since the first service and make over was no cost! Basically it was a free night, unless the girls plan to buy something while there or have a service done. I got one on them and bought the other (which I could never normally do) as a treat to myself.
After we are dolled up and have had our fun half of us split and went home or out with "date" and the other half went to Circa and extended the socializing.

Date My Friend = Success

Date my Friend went pretty well, specially since I quiet expected myself to be sitting at LUSH Lounge by myself. I get there right on time and talk to the owner and bartender, set up the cake and plates. Nothing major, just picked a good place and got a bomb cake, thank you Just Desserts. Lucky for me I was not alone! With in moments there were people!

It took a bit for it to warm up, and lots of people came by themselves which was OK. Yet it did screw the ratio up a good bit. I was trying to keep it 50/50, where guys bring girls and girls brought guys but that did not work out. I have to figure out what might help that ratio next time if there is a next time.

All and all, it was a lot of fun! I had some good friends with me, including one I have not seen in over 6 years from HIGH SCHOOL! It was crazy to catch up with her and hang out.

I have to admit I spent more time with her catching up than anyone else. Yet there were some great people there... I have to say more fabulous women than men. Eep! Also the ratio was more men than women which I would not have thought. I met a great group, new friends whom I went to get food with. It was a fun night and a great party in which there were consistently 20-30 people and over 60 that showed up! What a great party.

Snowboarding in Tahoe of the weekend 1/30

Snowboarding? What on earth made me think I should do this? Maybe it is the fact that, well I have never been great on ski's. Regardless, I have gotten it into my head to decide to do snowboarding. So I found a group.. a great one actually the Road Trippers and people who will actually do what they say they will.

We got to Tahoe in actually quite good time all things considering how late we left, all thanks to our gracious Driver J. Upon arriving Chef R had that covered and instantly there was some food, the two shown above. We also quite quickly decided which beds were ours, and lucky for me no one knew about the in-law unit right away. So by the time half of them were taken, there was the in-law and a room with three beds for the three guys (Poor babe's had a bear hibernating). Thus bed's were a scarcity.

My in-law was seriously sweet. I mean not only did I have my own huge bed. It is so tall I needed a step ladder to get up. It also has a fireplace and a semi kitchen/ sitting area. Which I loved cause it would hold all my stuff and gave me a reading chair. The place naturally but also very cozily has a bathroom and closet next to each other. I had my own lil porch in which Chef R and I often chilled in. It was great!

Getting up in the morning early, not so great. Remembering everything HA I forgot once and so did someone else. I forgot my helmet, but it was kinda good since we had left like lights on and windows open. It would have been chilly!

Snowboarding was a trip. It is freezing but that is why we are bundled. It is weird to move on the board. Plus whenever I had one foot out the bindings it was in pain. Yet it was a lot of fun and hard work. We were all bundled up and ready to go with boards in hand. Yet I learned a lot about balancing and trying to handle how to turn, stop and even navigate going backwards. Yet going up hill, regardless if you walked up carrying the board or half in it, was hard work. Often once we were up the slope, we were so tired we had to take a break. This is where having a helmet is really handy, cause it acts as a pillow where the snow is not really all that soft. Trust me I fell on it enough times to know. All and all, I did get turning a bit and on occasion even stopping. Yet getting off of the lift well and missing people not so good. I sure as hell do NOT have backwards down. None of the falls, the half scared out of my wits makes a dent in the feeling of being outside and trying something new. Not to mention... The view, I mean really. Wow.

After snowboarding the group went to a bar and had a lot of fun. There was a live band, lots of booze and car bombs. Everyone was dancing and having a blast, in general this was a great Road Trippers experience. If you want to see more pictures of this trip then just go here:
