Garden Week 1

My seeds were planted and all lined up in a row and in their mini green house. It was pretty easy add water and the pallets expand. Then it was just add everything and seeded it all. It is ready to go. I have waited and was happy to see in a few days there was a stirring. Something was starting to grow. This is just a little but exciting. I mean its been two days and there something growing. Wow.
With only four days starting, seeing 7 pallets sprouting is crazy. I just hope that I can remember which are which. wishing I had maybe planted a bit more so I could double up a bit per pot. This is going to be great.
This picture was taken on 5/13 it has been just a week already the green house is growing. I mean really growing. Count them yourself but there are 13 pallets that are sprouting. I am being like a little crazy. I leave them in the sun light during the day and then at night under a light (I wear an eye mask). I really want these to grow. I am getting into this!

A great man down

Arnie,

You are a dear friend that the world took away too soon. I am happy to have known you, worked for you and be at a multitude of events he worked. Arnie was a man that I knew everyone would be safe so long as he was around. Even more though a good man who always had a great attitude and a smile. I will always remember you with great fondness. If you knew him, hope to see you at his candle light memorial at Ocean Beach this Friday.

Trick to shoe buying

I have often been told that I should write a book about things your mother never told you. I guess I have started to accumulate a good bit of info on all sorts of odd stuff. In the end, I've ended up being a Jane of all Trades. Now I never like to keep a good thing to myself, so why not share here?

If you remember I passed on a great tip I found about shoes and how to stretch shoes. Which on its own is a great and helpful thing to know (bags with water, freeze shoes) but what if you didn't need to stretch them? What if you could buy shoes that would always be comfortable. Well I know how.

It is easy really and another no brainer concept once it hits you. It sounds a little weird so bear with me. The trick is to go shoe shopping when your feet are killing you.

"What?!" you say.

Let me repeat that for you. The trick is to go shoe shopping when your feet are killing you. I mean it. Your feet are already hurting, cranky, sore and swollen. They just want to be put up to rest or in a nice warm bath. So you can imagine how vocal so to speak your feet will be if the shoe pitches at all. Their is no:

"Oh I can just wear this in, right?" "It's not that bad, just a little pinch" "They are so cute."

Your foot should scream and put up enough of a fight that you will realize you can't get the shoe, regardless of the cuteness. Trust me, try it... the shoe will always be great if you use this trick.

Garden-in-a-box

I like to cook, but I don't really. I like choices and fresh options, but since I don't cook much anymore things go bad. I can really afford to buy my options, which bites. How do I fix this? I decided the fix was growing my own garden and I put it on my list then went to buy it. This is what I got:

Growing a garden is a bit of work of course. After reading instructions I have started soaking and freezing some seeds.
I am really excited at being able to have fresh herbs at home, and having grown and taken care of something. This is really going to be really cool and I will keep you updated.

MGMT

If you know me personally, you know I am a music junkie. I love to go out to concerts, clubs and enjoy live music. I went to see MGMT at the Fillmore last month with a friend C. It was a mad rush to get the tickets, luckily he was waiting in line and I jumped in with him 4 away. Whew thank goodness Murphy's law was not following me too closely.

So we went to see the concert and it was pretty damn great. In general the Fillmore is cool and a lot of fun. MGMT had pretty darn good energy, they were fooling around and making some jokes. Which I am OK with but wish band's wouldn't yammer as much. I pay to hear them play not talk, whatever. I was jumping around like a the crazy women I am, sorry that it effected the lil video I got before it died.

I also went to see one of my favorite bands Vampire Weekend on April 19th, it was supposed to be with my Dad. Yet life happens and he had to make a trip back to Argentina so his cousin/sister Ms.F who made a surprise trip here got to come with me. We rented a zip car and it was easy to get out there.

They are great! I love this band so much you really have no idea. I was so happy that Ms. F was able to see this lovely theater and this band who should blow up live! I was jumping around like crazy. I am sure I stepped or more landed on people. I feel bad but I was too happy to be seeing them to really care all that much so "Sorry" was said . They played like both albums it was just out of this world.

Still sewing by hand.. GRR

Ok this is getting ridiculous, I need to learn how to sew for real. I mean it. I cannot believe I love Princess R enough to sew it by hand. I suck at hand sewing and also I really don't even like to do it. So I got a little machine, because at that time I knew tons of people who said "Oh I can teach you, do you have a machine?" Of course the answer was "No" I don't know how to so why would I have the machine??!

Well one day trying to cheer myself up I saw a lil machine and hand stitch like you see on TV for $20. I said sure why not I will learn. Well now that I have the darn machine... I don't have people around me who know how to use it! Really?

So I have tried to figure it out. I got a lot of the threading right of the machine (this has so far been my issue) but not 100%. I don't know what I'm missing, I re-read the directions; I'm sure it is simple. I just don't know it. Got the machine and still am sewing by hand. This wasn't the plan.

Can anyone teach me?
